Mike and the crew from PrimeLine, an Australian television show, are masters of jelly game journalism, the lower end of credible reportage. However, they are obliged to cover the signing of the surely-got-to-be boring International Antarctic and Southern Oceans Conference and this is new territory. Greenpeace and other worthy organisations are keen observers but, muses Mike, are these naïve Greenies able to see all the dodgy, nefarious stuff that’s got to be happening underneath?
The New Zealand hosts and their international guests think they can outwit the Aussies. No way. Dirty tricks, subterfuge, and extreme cunning are a stock in trade for masters of the jelly game. Far too much of this story is true.
