A collection of words, music, and memory

Songs, stories, and a life shared

This site is a collection of songs, stories, and writing gathered over many years — most of it written for Joss.

Joss died on 27th September 2022, suddenly and peacefully, in bed beside me. We had been together for 42 years, although first met as teenagers when I arrived in New Zealand from Australia. I miss her so much that I can barely function, even now, one year after her death.

Her plaque is laid at the Mitchell family grave in Warkworth, New Zealand, and I have included the link to this site. Hopefully this message will not be on here for long…something far more professional will be in place.

Update: Nah. Nearly another year has gone by and I’ve failed to fix this. Ah well.

Click one of the sections below and all will be revealed — or at least, everything I’ve managed to list so far. It’s not as easy as I was led to believe. There are copyright issues with radio plays and film scripts, and embedding protocol is still a bit of a mystery to me.

Bits & Pieces

Short notes, fragments, and things that didn’t quite fit anywhere else.
I’ve been meaning to organise all this properly for a while now. It turns out it’s not quite as straightforward as I thought.

In the meantime, have a look around.

Yes it is. I cook pizza for dinner, our one night of depravity. Ha, I remember the depraved days of our youth. The goat and the garnish. Smoke and mirrors. Down, boy.

Ha, I thought…

I thought I was beaten, but WordPress admitted they had a problem with linking from Amazon Kindle. It wasn't me! Not that it actually makes a lot of difference, when I think about it...but that's not what I will tell my wife.
